It gives me a great pleasure to participate in this meeting, which constitutes an important step for the further development of the GUUAM-US dialogue.
On December 23, Assistant Secretary of State for European and Eurasian Affairs A. Elizabeth Jones met with Ambassadors from Azerbaijan, Georgia, Moldova, Ukraine, and Uzbekistan to discuss future cooperation between the United States and GUUAM. At the meeting, both sides agreed to the next steps for a joint U.S.-GUUAM project on trade and transportation facilitation and law enforcement.
On May 24, 2003 in Tbilisi, Georgia, the GUUAM Countries and the United States continued their dialogue on their common goals of combating terrorism, transnational crime, enhancing border security and customs control and encouraging trade at the Third Meeting of the Council of Ministers for Foreign Affairs of GUUAM Countries.
A new round of high-level GUUAM-U.S. consultations was held during the GUUAM Summit, July 3-4 in Yalta, Ukraine. Ambassador Steve Pifer, Deputy Assistant Secretary of State, led the U.S. delegation.

On September 23, 2004, in New York City, the GUUAM Countries and the United States met to further their dialogue and level of cooperation at the Seventh Meeting of the Council of Ministers for Foreign Affairs of GUUAM Countries. The U.S. delegation was led by Assistant Secretary of State for European and Eurasian Affairs A. Elizabeth Jones.
On April 21 and 22, 2005 in Chisinau, Moldova, the GUUAM Participating States and the United States met to advance their dialogue and cooperation at the Ninth Meeting of the Council of Ministers for Foreign Affairs of GUUAM Countries, on April 21, and the GUUAM Summit of Heads of State, on April 22. Ambassador Steven Mann, Senior Advisor for Eurasia, led the U.S.
On September 16, 2005, the sixth consecutive Ministerial meeting of GUAM-USA was held in New York on the margins of the United Nations General Assembly.
The GUAM Foreign Ministers and U.S. Assistant Secretary of State Dan Fried discussed a wide range of issues, including GUAM-USA cooperation and progress in the implementation of the GUAM-USA Framework Program.
On September 27, 2007 in New York, GUAM and the United States held their regularly scheduled meeting within the framework of the sixty-second session of the UN General Assembly.
On October 30, 2007 a meeting of GUAM National Coordinators and the GUAM Secretary-General was held with senior officials of the U.S. Department of State and the U.S. Department of Justice in Washington, D.C.
During the meeting the participants discussed several issues related to cooperation between the United States and GUAM and identified new potential areas of common interest.
On September 23rd, 2008 in New York, 14th meeting of the GUAM Council of the Ministers of Foreign Affairs – United States of America was held within the framework of the general debates of the 63rd Session of the General Assembly of the United Nations.
The sides reiterated the consistent and sustainable character of GUAM – United States political dialogue.
On December 4, 2008 in Helsinki, the 15th meeting of the GUAM Council of the Ministers for Foreign Affairs – United States of America was held within the framework of the 16th OSCE Ministerial Council Meeting.

Meeting of the GUAM Working Group on culture, science and education (WGCSE) took place on 2 July 2009 in Kiev. Representatives of the respective ministries of member states and Secretariat GUAM took part in its work.
Participants considered questions on cooperation in the field of culture, science and education in the framework of GUAM.
On July 8, 2009 in Kyiv, GUAM Secretary General Valeri Chechelashvili had a meeting with Mr. Gregory E. Ducot, the Deputy Assistant Director of US Department of Justice International Criminal Investigative Training Assistance Program (ICITAP).
On July, 17-18th, 2009 in Tbilisi took place place workshop on the development of road transportation routes from Europe to Afghanistan via South Caucasus. The seminar was organized by International Road Union in cooperation with US Department of Commerce.
